LAXART - Discussion with Cheryl Harris (Online)
Please join us this Tuesday, July 27th, for a Brown Bag talk with Cheryl I. Harris, the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation Chair in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at UCLA School of Law. Harris is the author of the seminal 1993 essay Whiteness As Property, one of the core essays of Critical Race Theory, a body of legal scholarship and an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists that critically examines the intersection of race, law and power. For her talk, Harris will critique the current right wing attack on Critical Race Theory. This event is in conjunction with Kandis Williams' Cassandra Press exhibition, The Absolute Right to Exclude: Reflections on and Implications of Cheryl Harris’ “Whiteness as Property,” on view through July 31st.
